Let The Games Begin!

Olympic-mania has hit the Fever, but who can blame us after witnessing our oh so British opening ceremony on Friday! Danny Boyle paved the way for Team GB to show the word how it’s done and the Fever Team were out and about in London this weekend cheering on our athletes.

We braved the weather and eagerly awaited at a roadside in Surrey to catch a glimpse of the women’s cycling team as they sped by. Despite getting completely drenched, it was all worth it in the end after Lizzie Armitstead snatched the first medal for Team GB!

The rain didn’t impact the atmosphere at the rowing either, with the highlight of the day being the crowning of the new Eric the Eel at Eton Dorney, when the Niger rower came in 100 seconds behind the winner of the men’s single skulls repechage spurred along by the deafening crowd!

We also soaked up the Olympic Park atmosphere and watched Team GB’s first Olympic water polo match since the 1950s. Whilst the boys lost to the Romanian team, the support was electric! Note: for lovers of heat the Water Polo arena is heated and a great escape from our unpredictable English summer.

Not a bad haul for Fever in the first 2 days of the games, needless to say we will be stealing a glimpse of golden boy Tom Daley in the diving this afternoon!
