Lauren Laverne and Jo Whiley get smart

Last week, the smart team launched the smart urban stage and Future Minds Exhibition on London’s thriving Southbank. The smart urban stage is an international touring pop-up exhibition, showcasing forward-thinking ideas and innovations which reflect the future of the city.

In order to generate exciting and inspiring content for the Future Minds Exhibition, Fever and smart enlisted the help of five celebrity experts to curate exhibition categories including culture & society, media & IT, design, architecture and science. Who else would we work with, but legendary DJs and broadcasters Jo Whiley and Lauren Laverne, fashion designer to the stars William Tempest, acclaimed architect critic Tom Dyckhoff and TV’s gadget-man himself Ortis Deley.

Each of our celeb experts personally chose two projects to exhibit at the urban stage and nominate for the smart Future Minds Award. Following an afternoon debating and deliberating who should win, the panel of curators decided to award the volunteers at local co-operative The People’s Supermarket with over £9000 in prize money!

The launch event, held within the urban stage structure, was attended by a wide range of media, as well as a whole host of representatives from each of the nominated projects. All were excited to hear the announcement of the Future Minds Award at the press conference and Q&A session.

The results of this campaign have taken smart into the heart of the lifestyle pages and seen the brand land on fashion, tech, architecture and celeb pages, across titles including Vogue.com, Grazia Daily, Emerald Street, Stuff.tv, Blueprint, Guardian.co.uk and Daily Mail Weekend.
