Fever goes global with BBC iPlayer

On 27th July, the Fever and Nelson Bostock Communications teams launched the new global BBC iPlayer app to Western Europe. A carefully targeted group of key international journalists from Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Spain and Switzerland came from far and wide to see an exclusive demo of the new iPad app.

Jana Bennett (President, Worldwide Networks & Global iPlayer) led the press conference, along with Luke Bradley-Jones, Managing Director of BBC.com at BBC Worldwide and Global iPlayer Launch Director Mark Smith, who introduced the app, and press were able to get down and dirty with the app and try it out for themselves at BBC Worldwide’s headquarters!

Nick, Caroline and Cristina ensured a great experience was had by all, and the next day the team reached out to international bloggers, national media and technical and ex-pat press across the 11 launch markets. The resulting press coverage was amazing, including Strategies in France, Spiegel in Germany, Ireland’s The Irish Times, ANSA news service in Italy and Spain’s El Mundo. Plus on the day of launch, iPlayer was trending worldwide on Twitter. Talk about great word of mouth!
