This Week We Have Been . . .

…winning! Last Monday saw Atletico NBG, our agency football team, win the most prestigious 5-a-side cup West London has to offer, with a stonking 9-2 victory. The win crowned off a largely successful season, even if it was a miserable start!

…getting our Egg & Spoon race on, with an old-school Sports Day in Hyde Park. There’s no better way to enjoy the sun – even if roly-polys and alcohol probably isn’t the cleverest combination…

…enjoying the long summer evenings by watching Shakespeare in an open air theatre. On Friday afternoon we hopped on a train to Poole, with picnic hamper in tow, packed full of champers and strawberries. As soon as we were there, we boarded a ferry that took us across the beautiful natural harbour to Brownsea Island – a stunning National Trust property – where we enjoyed our hamper of treats, before taking our seats to enjoy A Midsummer Night’s Dream under the stars.

…feasting our eyes and ears in Cambridgeshire at the Secret Garden Party. The independent (and refreshingly non-commercial) festival takes over a HCG beautiful farm and sets up a carnival style festival site with lakes, pagodas, stages, fairground rides and an array of spectacularly creative visual treats, all of which combine to help to make this festival that is much more than purely about the music. Headlining the festival on Saturday night were Faithless who played a blinding set, with 2manyDJs setting the scene just before them. However, upstaging both was the firework display which used the lakes, hills and the stages to create a show that elicited ‘ooohs’ and ‘aaaahs’ from the crowd, all topped off by the lighting of the pirate boat (seen in picture) in the centre of the lake in to a massive bonfire. It almost drew a tear or two. A great weekend, and thank you British summer for turning on the sunshine.

…celebrating Yorkshire Day (well, at least those of us from Yorkshire were). As well as a constant flow of tea being served all day – more so than usual – it was topped off with some spectacular summer sunshine. Grand!
