Fever makes babies with HTC Face Fusion

HTC came to us with the task to reach 10 million people globally with Face Fusion – a cool camera feature that lets you merge two photos of faces into one face. We had hours of fun using it at Fever Towers and wanted to keep the playful aspect as part of our campaign. But what was the best way to build a campaign with large scale global reach? We turned to celebrities and their followers.

Our idea was simple: get celebrity couples with international appeal to show what their babies would look like by merging their faces using Face Fusion. Today’s celebrities are internet stars so we brought on board two famous vloggers and their even more famous vlogger girlfriends for our campaign: Alfie from Pointless Blog and Zoell, and Jim’s Tweetings and Tanya Burr.

The couples filmed themselves making their own Face Fusion ‘babies’ and the boys posted to their YouTube channels as part of their daily vlogs. They and their girlfriends then promoted the vlogs through their social channels for added reach. The boys also ran a Twitter competition asking their fans to tweet why they wanted to try HTC’s latest handest with Face Fusion, HTC Desire EYE, giving away HTC phones as prizes.

The campaign delivered some great results, not least two babies! Baby Zalfie isn’t quite as scary as Baby Janya but the fans don’t seem to mind. We beat our original KPI and reached over 16 million people globally. This included knocking up over 1.5 million views on YouTube and reaching over 4 million on Twitter in just two weeks, which is incredible for a campaign with no paid support. We also saw 71% more engagement on YouTube versus our KPIs.
